Earlier this week I decided I needed to get away for a little a while (umm, I live with all BOYS - it's like being the only cat in a dog house! haha) so guess where I ended up? A treehouse! Yep, someone was renting out a treehouse on their property and it was awesome! Well, except for having to climb out of it at night to use the bathroom! Haha. But it was worth it! And I brought my kindle with me - it has finally won me over!

Although I'm not a huge fan of yakuza-themed yaoi, for some reason lately that's all I have been reading! Thanks to one of my wonderful readers, I've gotten hooked on the 'S' series yaoi novels. I'm usually not a fan of translated novels either, so it's such a rareity! Haha. I've also been following Nitta Youka's 'Kiss Ariki' manga. It's only available in emanga installments unfortunately - though that is most definitely better than nothing at all! I wonder if this trend will continue? It might even inspire a yakua story of my own!

I don't know why, but I've been buying a lot of plants lately. Me and plants don't usually get along (umm, they die on me!), but I've discovered succulents and 'air plants' and I'm in love with them! Water only 1-2 times a week you say? And less water is better than more? Oh, yeah, I can do that! It's nice to have greenery in the house too. They have a calming affect that is very nice for me lately after so much stress!

Now that I've given the good news, I have some sad news this week as well - after almost 21 years my cat Copper has passed away. I was lucky enough to have a vet who came to the house so I could hold my kitty in my arms as he passed. So sad, but it was definitely time. I want to give big hugs to everyone who has sent condolences. I really, really appreciate it!

Dreaming of the Void Update! Ch11!
This week is Ch11 of ID Locke's Dreaming of the Void! Things are heating up!
Hope everyone is managing to have a relaxed holiday season! I've been missing some of the Japanese traditions around this time of year. One of the things I liked most about living there was that New Years was actually a family holiday. You could go visit a temple at midnight to hear the ringing of the large bell (108 times, to negate the 108 'sins' of the previous year), have hot drinks and eat fresh mochi! So I was jazzed when I stumbled upon a mochi-pounding demonstration in the city and got to eat yummy mochi! :D Hope it's a sign of a good year to come!

This week's update is Star-Crossed Ch54! Wow, this chapter totally ran off on it's own! It just kept going and I had to go with it, so my apologies for it getting out a tad late! Getting out such a long chapter this week was really a challenge since so much else was going on - a good friend of mine had an art show, and my hubby had his first big gig in San Francisco!! But now I finally got this chapter out and it's very late and I am gonna get into bed, snuggle with my cat, and sleep in tomorrow!

Happy Thanksgiving! And if you don't celebrate it, well, Happy Friday then! ;) Me and the roomies had a big gathering at the new place in San Fran, so that even though I didn't get to see family, I was able to hang with friends and eat lots and lots of food! Haha. And I think we have so many leftovers we'll be eatng them through the entire weekend, which is fine with me because I hate to cook! And in between research and writing I've also been indulging in a bit of nostalgia for Japan. I gave in and had crepes in Japantown - matcha ice cream with anko, kuromitsu, and whipped creme! I also got some matcha fudge from a tea house...and then began to wonder why I was feeling so heavy! Haha. I guess I'll have to eat light next week! Oh, wait. It's Thanksgiving! Oh well! :P

I missed a lot of the Halloween festivities this week, but I did make it to the 'Day of the Dead' event here in SF - I'd never been to something like it before and it was wonderful! Festive and fun, but still meaningful. Which was really nice.
Also, wanted to give a big thanks to everyone who inquired about my sick kitty! He's doing all right, but his kidneys are failing, so he will need an i.v. regularly for the rest of his days, however long that may be.

I've spent much of this week preparing for Yaoi con - can't believe it's next week already! He's 20 this year but hasn't ever had any problems, other than losing his hearing. Lately, though, he doesn't seem to want to eat... So it's been a mix of emotions as I look forward to Y-con but am really worried about leaving my kitty since he's not well.

I'm back in the States and recovering from jetlag after going from Lodnon to Boston (with an overnight layover), then Boston to Denver (change of planes), then finally Denver to San Francisco! Whew! But it was worth it, since the trip was really wonderful and I got to see so many friends I hadn't seen in years! And as much as I miss them now, I do have to say that I'm very happy to be back on the West coast after London - where I feel everyone should be wearing a sign that says 'I am very busy and important'! Since that's the prevailing attitude. Yick. I don't know how my friends deal with it - they should just move here! hehe. Anyhow, it's nice to be back and I'm looking forward to chatting on Skype with everyone tomorrow! Hope you can make it!

I'm back to the UK after a stint in Berlin! It was my first time there and it was crazy! Loads of street art, street music, young people, and good shopping! Since the last update was a tad late, thought I'd post this one early! Especially since I'll be in a car most of the day tomorrow riding from Frankfurt to Berlin! Frankfurt is a big financial center in Germany and Europe so Berlin will probably have more fun things to offer, but I've still really enjoyed it here! Found a Japanese tea house/ bakery, sampled sweets at the market, and had a traditional Frankfurt meal of 'green sauce' (herbs, yogurt and mayo) with potatoes and schnitzel, plus apple wine! And of course it's just been good to visit with friends here. Hope everyone else is having a lovely week, wherever you are!

Very happy to have my mac back after a very interesting week - which included nakedness and puppetry, among other things! (You'll have to check facebook or twitter for details! hehe) This week I've been a bit bummed out realizing just how many mnaga companies have either gone under or dropped titles. :( Although at least there's hope with companies like the Digital Manga Guild, which actually seems to be trying to utilize the numerous fan groups who often produce better translations than major publishers! Here's hoping that some titles like Embracing Love and Cantrella get picked up again soon!

Wow, moving is always a bit more complicated than you think, isn't it? Heh. Things are going fairly smoothly, though - just busy! And at least by next week I'll be settled!
Oh, for all you Teahouse fans, since I have to recoup expenses from moving - especially with my trip coming up in Sept. - I'm re-selling my Teahouse Special Editions CH1 & Ch2 for the *same* cost as the Teahouse site - $40. (Actually it's less, since I'm not asking extra for S+H.) I want to make sure no one thinks I'm trying to make a profit! I just want to recoup some costs and get the editions to other fans who'll enjoy them! :) (If you're wondering, the Special Editions include the artbook, signed print, pins, stickers, etc., but *don't* have the regular color comic, which can be ordered straight from Teahouse for $10.) If anyone is interested, just drop me a line. I should be able to mail them out lickity-split next week.

Thankfully, rather than moving across continents or across the country, this is just a move across the bay! :) The hubby and I are looking for a house to rent with some friends right in the city, which should be pretty cool as long as we find the right spot. Paradise Club Update! Ch6!

Things are bittersweet this week - been great to see my family and my in-laws in Chicago, but sad that we are preparing for my mother-in-law's second memorial service here. It has been challenging in a lot of ways, but the family is thankfully very supportive of one another! I'm working to keep myself busy and very happy to get a double update out this week! I hate setting aside stories for so long, so it's very nice to get back to them more frequently. I'll be getting back to Star-Crossed soon and Twisted is currently editing the next Husbands for Peace chapter too! Plus, the ebook is in the final stages and will probably be available later this week!

Stolen Away Update! Ch32!
This week's update is Stolen Away Ch32! So excited to get this chapter posted! It was so much fun getting back to this story. And as usual, the plot bunnies had their way and there will be at least one more chapter to come! These fics take on a life of their own and they just want to keep going! Haha.
I'm off to Chicago this weekend! Actually looking forward to some hot, humid weather! I love the Bay Area but I certainly won't mind warmer weather for a while! I should be able to be online as usual, so no worries there. I will miss my kitty at home though! Ah well!

Dreaming of the Void Update! Ch4!
This week's update is chapter 4 of ID Locke's Dreaming of the Void!
So much news this week! First off, it's my birthday this weekend! Woot! Actually, May is also the month Yaoifix was born! Happy 5th! (I will not be telling you *my* age! lol) Also, in addition to the new Facebook page, I joined Twitter as well (as Rin Sparrow @ yaoifix)! And more good news - the ebook 'Quickies' should be ready for purchase by June! So excited!
Things have been so busy (aren't they always! haha) with friends in and out of town and the hubby and I making our own travel plans. We're heading to Chicagoland a week from today. It'll be wonderful as always to be there, and I don't think anyone will mind that I'll be posting the update earlier since I'll be in transit Friday! ;)

Star-Crossed Update! Ch47!

Big thanks to everyone who dropped by the chat last weekend! It was a great time as usual! After getting some feedback from readers, it looks like we'll be auctioning Yayoi Neko's art in May for fundraising for Japan! Also, the new ebook will be posted to raise funds as well just as soon as I can get it formatted. If anyone can lend a hand to help us get this done quicker, there would be a free month's subscription in return! (Details can be found in the forum!)
As for myself, things have been hectic, but I'll be heading to the Cherry Blossom Fest in San Fran's Japantown tomorrow - hopefully to eat some mochi and udon and just possibly buy a nabe pot! Mmm... nabe! Hope everyone has a great weekend and enjoy the update!

Vignettes Update! Paradise Club Ch4!

I'm back in California now and re-charged after vacation! The rain followed me so I didn't get much sun - but since it kept the Disney crowds at bay, that was fine with me! haha.
As for the upcoming Japan relief fundraising auctions, it looks like Yayoi Neko (creator of the kick-ass BL comic Incubus and of the amazing Husbands for Peace illstrations!) may have a piece of original art to donate to the auction! I'll have more details on all this during next Saturday's online Skype chat! Email me or visit the forum for details if you'd like to join in!

After weeks of rain and cold out in San Francisco, I'm headed to sunny Florida! I'll be going on a family trip to Disney World from the 27th to April 3rd, so I'll be offline turning that time as well. It's hard for me to unplug, but if I'm going to do it anywhere, Disney seems like the place!
When I return on the 3rd, I'll post the next update and reply to any emails. (If you have questions during the week, please refer to the FAQs.) During the first full week of April I'll also post info on the art auctions for fundraising for Japan, upcoming ebooks, etc! Stolen Away Update! Ch 31!
This week is Ch 31 of Stolen Away! Hope you enjoy it!
I'm sure everyone by now is aware of the earthquake and subsequent tsunami that hit Japan last week. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has family and friends out in Japan, and YF would like to do what we can to help out. I'll be looking for items I can auction (such as artwork of the characters, etc.) for a fundraising raffle. Also, I'm putting together an ebook anthology of all the former oneshot fics from the site which will go up sometime in April, called 'Quickies'. All the profits from purchases of this ebook in the month of April will go directly to relief efforts in Japan. I'll have more details on this in a couple weeks. (Unfortunately, I'll be out of town starting next week until April 2nd.)
If anyone would like certain items put up for auction, or had other ideas for fundraising, drop me a line or head over and post in the forum.

I was hoping to premier the story with its own archive, but posting the illustration was proving a bit tricky! It will definitely be up by the next time this story updates, though! Paradise Club Update! Ch3!

I hope the start of March is treating everyone well and bringing some much needed warmer weather! I'll be announcing the raffle winner from February later on this week in the forum! And as for the second update, it will be posted Friday and it will be the final installment of Hostage by MomsDarkSecret! It's so sad to see it end, but next week will start up Dreaming of the Void by ID Locke, so there is something to look forward to!

Hostage Update! Ch18!

Just got back from Japan! Great trip but packed a lot in a few days and froze my tush off! So now I'm nursing a bad cold. But I'm back in the Philippines and the family has a trip planned, so looks like I'll be getting up at 4am for a 9 hour road trip! All of which sounds exciting, but seems really overwhleming to me right now with my achy head! Hopefully I'll recover before returning home next week.

This update is coming out early this week because I'll be heading to Osaka tomorrow! Ironically, internet access isn't the best in Japan. You can find wi-fi at Starbucks, but very few other places, and although you can get online at manga cafes, you only find these in the major cities, and they aren't as common as you'd think. (At least, this was the case when I left in 2009.) Thankfully, I'll be staying with some friends and at a capsule hotel that has wi-fi, so I should still be able to check in fairly regularly. ;)

This fic may sound familiar to some of you, since it was first written years ago for the now-defunked Yaoi House. I waited this long to post it to YF because I wasn't sure what was happening with the publishing house, but the rights have reverted back to me now and I am happy to share it with all of you!
Tonight I've been promised a very loud, very festive new year here in Manila! There's pretty much going to be fireworks and feasting all night long! But I had to be sure to post the story first, since I will be in the countryside the rest of the week and totally offline.

Hostage Update! Ch. 17!
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! This week's update is Ch17 of Hostage by Moms Dark Secret!
I was dearly hoping to do a holiday fic, but sadly, there wasn't time. :( The hubby only came back into town yesterday after months - on and off - of caring for his mother (who is unfortunately very ill) and we're already leaving for Manila Sunday! The situation has been very stressful, but we are doing our best and looking forward to a relaxing vacation after so many months of living apart.
Even though there wasn't a holiday fic, though, I did have the special holiday raffle today and have posted the winner of the Teahouse comic in the forum!
Here's wishing everyone a very warm, happy holiday of bishis and sugar plums!

I was hoping to get more included in this chapter, but this has been one hell of a week! But despite all the craziness happening lately, the hubby and I are still planning to head to the Philippines for New Years. So I've also been doing a lot of prepping so the updates will go smoothly while we're traveling. Look forward to some new stories to pop up in January and February!

New Vignette Update!
There's been some requests to continue some fics or begin new ones, so I decided to post a sequel to Queen's Night that's been brewing in my head for a while: The Sweetest Revenge! It takes place a year after Queen's Night ends and centers around Christophe's friend, Philippe. Hope you enjoy it!
This week I waxed nostalgic about Japan and treated myself to sushi- twice! Hehe. But the best part was actually a very non-Japanese sounding dessert - a melon soda float! Oddly, I really don't like the nuclear-green pop on its own, but add ice cream and voila! Instant goodness! I'm looking forward to having more in January on my short visit back to Japan!

Stolen Away Update! Ch 29!
Things are getting intense in this week's update of Stolen Away! Can't wait to hear what you all think!
Big news this week! I've officially signed on a new guest author: ID Locke (who you may know as Iron Dog)! Her story is called Dreaming of the Void and involves a man of the Awh'anise race (an original creation of hers you may have read of in her other works). She describes the Awh'anise as having "pointed ears, prehensile tails, claws and fangs. They're very aggressive and violent and highly sexual." Yuuuum! The story will begin in the first few months of the new year. Not sure exactly when, but it will likely start up after Hostage wraps up. Husbands for Peace Update! Ch 29!
This week is chapter 29 of Twisted Hilarity's Husbands for Peace!
Hope everyone has been having a wonderful Tofurkey weekend! haha. I do indulge in meat, though, so not only did I have turkey for Thanksgiving, my in-laws also ordered an entire roast pig - Filipino style! It's called lechon and, I gotta say, it's pretty darn tasty!
On another yummy note, I've recently watched Queer As Folk (the original UK version) - and oh my! Why haven't I watched it before?! Sexy men doing smexy things together. Pretty awesome. And I still have the whole U.S. version to watch now! I highly recommend it!

Vignettes Update!
Finally I am getting the chance to finish up one of my long-neglected vignettes: Wren!
I'm posting the update a bit early this week because as of tomorrow I am offline and out to Yosemite for the weekend! I've never been there before and it may be too late in the season to see certain things, but I am just going to enjoy being out in the fresh air, away from everything else - with my hubby! (He's been out of town a lot, hence a special trip!) So if you need anything this weekend, try the FAQs first and know that I'll get back to you asap on Monday!
Btw, I had a lot of readers asking if I was going to continue 'Vamp Tramp' from last week--sadly, I don't have any plans to, but I always take reader's opinions into consideration, so if I get enough responses to continue a certain story, there's definitely more of a chance I'll re-visit those characters! ;)

Vignettes Update!
I didn't have time to squeeze this in last week because of Yaoi Con, so here is a slightly belated Halloween special - Vamp Trap, a one-shot in the Vignettes archive!
Wow, things have been hectic since the con and I had a few technical issues, but I managed to make time to visit the 'Legion of Honor' Museum in San Francisco. It might sound like something out of a comic book, but it's amazing! Not only do they have a huge collection of Rodin sculptures (including The Thinker!), they currently have an exhibit of Japanese woodblock prints! And they just happened to have the print that I used as the basis for the tattoo I have on my back! The security guy even let someone take a picture of the print while I was standing next to it! hehe. You're not usually supposed to take pics of the art, but I got away with it! I recommend a visit if you're anywhere near the area!
Oh, also I've posted the winner of the Oct. manga raffle in the forum, fyi!

Hostage Update! Ch15!
This week's update is chapter 15 of Hostage by Moms Dark Secret!
Woot! I'm so excited that Yaoi Con is finally here! I didn't realize that the first day of the con is fairly chill - no panels, just some other events - which works for me since I still have a lot to prepare! I'm hoping to still get in some good ol' Halloween time on Sunday too! It's my favorite holiday and this year I have a friend in town from the UK who has never even been to a haunted house! She was also surprised to hear that you can dress as *anything* in the US, even if it isn't anything scary. The holiday definitely seems bigger here than in Britian, and I wonder now if other countries - in Europe or wherever - have big Halloween events?

And speaking of Yaoi Con, I finally got my location pinned down in the Fan Market - I'll be at table 19A! So everyone who's attending, stop by my booth for free goodies, raffles for manga and free memberships, and more! And don't forget I'll also be hosting the 'Japanese High Schools' 101 panel! Ever wonder what real high schools are like compared to manga? Or what's it's like to live and work in Japan? Come by with all your questions on high school, Japan, etc.! And maybe those of you who are veterans of Y-Con can give me advice on getting the most out of the con - since this will be my first time there! So excited!
